Major Dan Jennings
On February 2, 2011 Major Dan Jennings was appointed to The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Quincy. Major Jennings comes to Quincy from Territorial Headquarters in Des Plaines, where he served as the Assistant Secretary for Program and Secretary for Spiritual Life Development.
Major Jennings was commissioned as an officer in The Salvation Army in 1994 and has served as a corps officer in the Western Division , Divisional Youth and Candidate’s Secretary in the Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Division, and Divisional Secretary for Program in the Kansas and Western Missouri Division.
Major Jennings is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, The College for Officers Training, and post graduate work at Nazarene Theological Seminary. Major Jennings serves as an instructor at The Salvation Army Continuing Education Program at Olivet.
The Major has a love for short term Mission and has led several mission teams, including visits to Peru, Chile, and multiple visits to the Philippines.
The Major is married and has two adult daughters. His wife, Major Dorene Jennings who most recently served as the Territorial Community Care Ministries Secretary has been appointed as the Kroc Center Officer for Congregational Life. The Jennings also have a 12 year old grandson and a 2 year old granddaughter, who live with their parents in South Dakota.
Major Dorene Jennings was born into a Christian home, daughter of a Lutheran pastor. She was introduced to The Salvation in the early 1970s through a coffee house ministry in the CIEI Division.
Dorene entered the Training College in 1973. She returned to the Training College in 1992 as a Cadet Spouse and worked at the North Side Adult Rehabilitation Center while her husband completed training. In 1994, she and her husband (then) Lieutenant Dan Jennings were commissioned and appointed corps officers at the Watertown, South Dakota Corps. In 2000, Dorene was appointed as the Divisional Youth Secretary in the Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Division.
