Will Bequest
Making out a will may not be at the top of your priority list, but if you don’t have one, it should be. Maybe you think you’re not that old, or that you have plenty of time to think about that later.  Don’t wait! Plan ahead!

Did you know that a properly planned will, will allow you . . . to Control the distribution of your estate . . . to Help the less fortunate through a bequest to the charitable organization of your choice . . . to Plan for decreasing your estate and inheritance taxes . . . and to Avoid the distribution of your estate according to impersonal legal formulas rather than your own wishes.

Proper Will wording to make a bequest to the Quincy Salvation Army:

General Operating Expenses - (This wording will provide general operating dollars)
“To The Salvation Army Midland Division exclusively and only for the work of The Salvation Army Quincy, Illinois Corps, 323 N. 5th St., Quincy, IL 62301 for operating expenses.”

Capital Expenses - (This wording will provide capital dollars for repairs, equipment and building purposes)
“To The Salvation Army Midland Division exclusively and only for the work of The Salvation Army Quincy, Illinois Corps, 323 N. 5th St., Quincy, IL 62301."

Hometown Endowment
“The Salvation Army Quincy, Illinois Hometown Endowment.”
(This wording would provide operational dollars from the interest earned on the principle amount in the endowment. The principle is preserved in its entirety.)

What is the Hometown Endowment?
The Hometown Endowment is a special fund created to assure continued, stable funding for the programs and services the Quincy Salvation Army provides to those in need in our community. It makes a source of income available to support Army programs. The principle amount is preserved in its entirety, therefore producing an income from interest that is used solely for programs that benefit people in need in our area.

Why an Endowment fund in Quincy, Illinois?
The Salvation Army has been serving the needs of the greater Adams county area for more than 111 years. Over the years, the number of people we help continues to grow. We have experienced dramatic increases in requests for assistance over the past few years, largely due to economic conditions. However, resources seldom keep pace with this ever-growing need for assistance. Therefore, the Hometown Endowment Program is an ideal vehicle to provide the stability to grow along with the needs of the Quincy community.

The Salvation Army works hand in hand with the Quincy community and the greater Adams County area each day to meet the needs of less fortunate individuals and families. As long as there are needs to be met, The Salvation Army stands ready to serve, making a difference one life at a time.

Peter Drucker says this about The Salvation Army . . .
“The Salvation Army is by far the most effective organization in the U.S. No one even comes close to it in respect to clarity of mission, ability to innovate, measurable results, dedication and putting money to maximum use.”

Drucker’s principal criteria for well-managed non-profits are: clarity of mission, innovative ability, clear definition of results, and willingness to measure performance.  Drucker says The Salvation Army qualifies on all grounds.  And when it comes to measuring results, it has one of the highest performance rates at the lowest cost.  “They know how to work with the poorest of the poor and the meanest of the mean,” says Drucker.
